Silicon Improves Water Use Efficiency in Maize

Outcomes:
  • The results showed that plants treated with Si “had 20% higher water use efficiency (WUE) than plants without Si applied”
  •  The results were largely due to “a reduction in the transpiration rate through the stomata, indicating that the Si affected stomata movement”
