Leading Agribusiness Identity to join MaxSil as Board Advisor
John McKillop, a respected agribusiness leader, is to become a board advisor to Brisbane-based silicon fertiliser start-up, MaxSil Pty Ltd. Following that, Mr McKillop has accepted an invitation to become a director once a cornerstone investor has been secured. Mr McKillop has more than 25 years’ experience as an agribusiness leader across cotton, grain, dairy and red meat industries nationally.
MaxSil™ fertiliser comes out on top in University of Queensland maize trials
Funded under the Federal Drought Resilient Soils and Landscape project, the trial aimed to test the efficacy of three different silicate fertilisers to increase plant stress tolerance and improve soil characteristics.
Best-ever barley crop on salt-affected paddocks
Replicated trials just concluded in Western Australia have shown Maximus barley responded well to seed-coated treatments of MaxSil™ silicon fertiliser. On non-limiting soils the trials yielded up to 13 per cent higher than control plots. On acid soils there was a demonstrated increase in yield of 16.6 percent, and on saline-sodic soils there was a yield increase of up to 25 percent.

MaxSil’s outstanding results on extreme salt affected land
In a trial crop of barley this month (September) Claire Stevens from Steven’s Farm at Kellerberrin northeast of Perth is looking at the best-ever crop of barley she says her father can remember ever being produced in a saline-affected paddock, registering salt levels of 20 parts per million.
In the video, Claire shows off the MaxSil treated barley, which she explains has a lot less disease, and healthier roots that are purple in colour, which shows that the plant has absorbed toxins from the soil.

MaxSil demonstrates big yield increases in sugar cane trials
MaxSil silicon fertiliser has demonstrated substantial yield and biomass enhancements in sugar cane farm trials across Queensland's northern growing regions since 2012. Extensive trials occurred in Tully, Childers, and Bundaberg from 2012 to 2018. Notably, trials in Tully during 2012 resulted in growers purchasing MaxSil due to the observed benefits.
