MaxSil™ a clear winner in Colombian tomato trial
MaxSil Pty Ltd’s patented silicon fertiliser, when applied at rates up to 80kg/ha, has shown remarkable results in Colombian trials. Used alone or in combination with other inputs such as compost, the fertiliser led to yield increases of up to 43% compared to controls.
The primary objective of the trial was to evaluate the impact of MaxSil on tomato plants, focusing on yield, quality, disease resistance, and the extended shelf life provided by the MaxSil™ treatment.
Results indicated that MaxSil™, when used in conjunction with organic matter, not only produced significant yield increases but also extended shelf life by an impressive 68% over controls at 35 days post-harvest.
Notably, adding standard NPK inputs to the MaxSil™ and compost applications did not significantly alter these positive outcomes.
The trials were conducted by Didesagro PN SAS, an agricultural research company based in Bogotá, specialising in applied agricultural research for the registration and development of synthetic products, bio-inputs, plant extracts for crop protection and nutrition, soil conditioners, and adjuvants.
